Who we are

1897 At the age of 25, Wendelin Rauch establishes a small joinery in Freudenberg, Baden-Württemberg, producing occasional furniture.
1927 Otto Rauch joins the company of his father Wendelin.
1934 After some ups and downs in the 30s, Rauch buy the furniture factory of Emil Grein in Freudenberg. New CEOs of this company are Wendelin and his son Otto.
1937 An innovative production concept, separating the machine hall from the assembly hall, is introduced in the new manufacturing facilities. Staff numbers exceed the 100 mark.
1939 Wendelin Rauch, the founder of the Rauch Furniture Company, dies at the age of 67.
1945 After the end of World War II, Wendelin, Günther and Heinz, the founder's grandsons, join the company, now in its third generation. They focus on the manufacture of bedrooms, kitchens and occasional furniture.
1953 For the first time in their history, Rauch products are shown at the International Furniture Fair in Cologne.
1958 Acquisition of the Kreibaum chipboard factory in Markt Bibart with an area of 14,382 sqm. As from now, Rauch produce all chipboard required for their own furniture production in this facility.
1963 Rauch employ a staff of more than 500.
1970 Rauch develops the French, Dutch and Belgian markets with the export share rapidly rising to 20%.
1972 Opening of a new, 520 m long manufacturing facility on an area of 50,000 sqm. In this plant, Rauch specifically produce furniture with printed surfaces. Every minute, a complete bedroom or studio set comes off the production line with the aid of a new computer-controlled system.
1973 Over the last 10 years staff numbers have doubled. More than 1,000 people work for Rauch now.
1977 Rauch invite their domestic and foreign customers for their first In-House Show on their premises in Freudenberg.
1979 Acquisition of the Zengel furniture factory in Bürgstadt. Real wood-veneer bedrooms are manufactured in this plant.
1989 Extension of the manufacturing facilities from 50,000 sqm to 65,000 sqm, i.e. an area as large as three football fields.
1994 Award of the environmental distinction "Blue Angel" for all Rauch products. All varnishes used are water-soluble and, therefore, environmentally friendly.
1997 The Rauch family enterprise celebrates its 100th anniversary.
1999 Rauch react to the changes of the German market conditions and launch the three product sections of DIALOG, pack's and select-Art. Increase of the manufacturing capacity of the chipboard factory in Markt Bibart.
2004 Buy-out of all shares of the Steffen AG Mastershausen by the Rauch families.
2006 Rauch actively contribute to climate protection by putting an environmentally-friendly and CO2- neutral chip-combustor into operation. This provides heating for Plant 3, the administration buliding, the showroom and the Otto-Rauch-Foundation.
2007 Rauch open a new 4,000 sqm Showroom Centre in Freudenberg.
2008 At the International Furniture Fair in Cologne, Rauch present their “Living Environments” concept to the public. A short-term-plan is to build a museum, which shows the history of the artwork of joinery and furniture.
2009 Complete acquisition of all company shares of Steffen AG in Masterhausen as well as integrating this company into the Rauch Group.
Opening of the Rauch Museum "Provenance and Presence".
Extension of the manufacturing facility in Bürgstadt by about 10.000 sqm. Moreover, Rauch receives the "golden M". This award presented by the German Community for Quality in Furniture ("Deutsche Gütergemeinschaft Möbel e.V.") is the most important seal for quality and safety in furniture production in europe.
